Designing 3D books and making pop up cards for teachers, librarians and parents

COURSE OBJECTIVES

This workshop will equip you with the basic skills and creative techniques in designing 3D books & Pop-up cards. It will cover fundamental theories and provide lots of hands-on opportunities. At the end of the course, you will produce at least one 3D book and various pop-up cards which can be used as teaching aids in schools, libraries or to give away as special gifts for friends and children.

* Basic techniques, tools and materials
* Card making and pop-up basics
  • Various ways of folding a card
  • Designing symmetrical and asymmetrical pop-up cards
  • Creating Pop-up: a step by step guide
  • Methods in designing and making pop-up card
  • with one layer pop-up

* 3D books and book making 
  • The various basic components or parts of a book: title page, half title page, content page, body/text, end paper etc...  
  • Using 2D paper to create 3D effect/objects.

Ms Dexterine Ho Soo Miang obtained her PG Dip in Librarianship from University of Wales (UK) and her Masters in Information Studies from University of Wisconsin (US).
